Site briefing highlights

About this flying site

Rather nice flying site offering panorama over the Caselette village and its monastery. It is a rarely frequented flying site, because it is very difficult to find any useful thermals in the area, or soar in dynamics.

Take-off

Rather inclined and smooth takeoff field from the eastern crest of the mountain. Takeoff is to the south. Easily reachable by approx 30-40min trekking from the central square of the Caselette village.

Landing

Fields around. No info on official landing sites (info to be updated as soon as some info is available). Avoid landings on cultivated land or with livestock. Be polite if it happens to face the landowner.

Access and parking

From Turin: 1) Take whatever road and get to Alpignano, from there follow indications to Susa or Caselette. 2) From Tangenziale take the exit 'Statale 24' and follow the indications to Susa or Caselette.

Local weather notes

Do not fly with strong westerly and especially with foen winds. Check the weather forecast, foen may take you by surprise, appear in just 30min out of nowhere and produce up to 70kmh very turbulent wind.

Flight rules

Pianezza airfield is nearby, their circuit is always on the west (towards mountains) and at 700ft AGL, so beware of light sport aircraft traffic.
