About this flying site

This site is a excellent starting point for the flight over Serra (very long morena stretching to lake of Viverone), a rather easy XC flight. In spring its flyable the best on the 2nd half of the day.

Take-off

Wide launch permitting simultaneous TOs of 4 or even more gliders. The upper part is flat and the slope becomes very steep at the edge, a good glider control skills are recommended. For HG: ramp available

Landing

Borgofranco landing field. > see photo... The Cavallaria landing is also within the reach if some thermals help and the valley breeze is not too strong.

Access and parking

Accessible by road, the last part is a gravel road but no need for an off-road vehicle. Sometimes the shuttle bus from Cavallaria flying site takes pilots here (when Cavallaria takeoff is in cloud for example).

Local weather notes

Do not fly with N and NW winds, and when a danger of föhn wind entry exists. In spring thunderstorms may develop very quickly. Always keep an eye on cumulus clouds development, and in case of over-development it's a good idea to land.

Flight rules

Common frequency 146.690 MHz, including regular weather info transmissions.
