About this flying site
Good takeoff technique is required! Not for beginners.
No windsocks available, but there is a flag on the mountain refugee (when it is open).
It can be a little bumpy out there. If you want a relaxing glide, best time to takeoff is in the evening, after 17.00.
Take-off
Takeoff possible below the mountain refugee, at about 2300 m.
Directions available are SW and S... just choose a place on the grass (be careful with rocks!)
Possible takeoff also facing E (it's more like NE...) with nil to light winds. This is the best takeoff to open your wing, because there is a little flat spot
Landing
San Giacomo official landing.
Access and parking
About 2.5 to 3 hours hike from San Giacomo.
Local weather notes
Foehn winds (northerly)
Cloudbase covering the takeoff
Forecasts are planning aids, not safety clearance. Check current observations, official airspace and NOTAM information, local rules and your own experience before every flight.
