a small hill just in front of the Leuchtenburg - a castle situated above the town of Kahla.
the takeoff is a nice grassy plateau inclined towards southwest, the takeoff direction, but it drops of steeply - enough room to start your wing comfortably even in nil wind though!
beware of winds coming from southerly directions: at the landing zone you will almost certainly encounter shear winds and rotor.
Landing
just below the road
Access and parking
from Kahla follow the signs to Leuchtenburg and park your car at the castles parking lot. take the stairs leading up, but instead of turning towards the castle to your right, follow the grassy road turning left: it will lead you towards the takeoff south of the castle
Local weather notes
watch out for southerly winds! (see above)
Flight rules
the site is restricted to 4 pilots in the air! ...it is just too small for more exploitation! if more pilots are present, the locals just simply take turns.
Forecasts are planning aids, not safety clearance. Check current observations, official airspace and NOTAM information, local rules and your own experience before every flight.
