Site briefing
if the wind is too strong or if you just feel like it, you can take your wing to the meadows of the airport behind the takeoff - enormous area to do some groundhandling!
easy takeoff - superb soaring and thermalling site. please ask a local before flying there first. do not land on top just right of the takeoff - beware of a strong rotor just behind the main pump. toplanding is best on the vast meadow about 200m to the right of takeoff
just below takeoff there is a big meadow where you can land and walk up again easily; if you decide to fly down all the way, pick the hugh patch on the other side of the settlement - there is one lonely tree with a windsock, the usual pickup spot for the locals if you do land on top, do so close to the takeoff or avoid the rotor just behind and land about 200m further back (in between you might get a nasty whack)
just above the last settlement as you leave Jena. access better through the road bypassing the old russian military barracks; park there and walk down the dirt road leading towards the slope and the takeoff, sitated a bit to your left - watch for the windsock in a low pine tree. you can also park your car down at the bottom landing zone or in the settlement (watch out where you put it - you might get a ticket) and walk up
just need to get the weather right: from east to southsoutheast; northeast is a nogo.
