About this flying site

not having much altitude to work with requires to work even the weakest thermals; once above launch it becumes mauch easier...

Take-off

Takeoff is near a small church 'Madonna della Neve' on the top of nearby hill. Large enough to accomodate 3-4 simultaneous launches, smooth and suitable for beginners. The takeoff can be easily reached by a 4x4 on a gravel road. Access by normal car may still be possible but the road to the top is rough and steep at some points. There is a shuttle bus on almost every flyable day, which departs from bar at Via Levone 31, or at these coordinates: 45.309925, 7.583138 Also a nice 1hr hike (530m up) from the landing. Gravel road starts approx 500m east of the landing field from the main road. Follows the crest of the ridge all the way up.

Landing

quite large field next to the local street Via Montiglio. WInd is almost always coming from east. Please do not park the cars near the landing site, leave them on the spacious parking site next to the bar (400m from the landing).

Local weather notes

Do not fly in the presence of foen winds! Strong turbulence and wind gusts! Avoid flying also if the entry of such winds is forecasted on the same day. It is usually matter of few minutes to become dangerous and unflyable. In summer months thunderstorms may build up very quickly, especially over Lanzo town some 10-15km away, keep your eye on development of cumulus clouds.

Flight rules

The airport of Turin is very close! Do not fly towards east on the plains! It is ok to stay over the mountains.
