About this flying site

One of the highest gliding possibilities in the area. In spring the conditions are very strong, but end of summer and beginning of autumn is perfect. In winter usually too much snow to get there.

Take-off

Few meters from the refuge La Riposa big and smooth grass field. Lots of takeoff possibilities all around.

Landing

The same as Ciamberlando. The Chianocco landing is also within a reach of glide.

Access and parking

1) By car. Take the motorway or state highway to SUSA. Get to the main train station. Turn high behind it and follow the adjacent street towards East until seeing indications to 'Rocciamelone'. Follow the indications until the parking lot 100m down from La Riposa. 2) By walking from Susa. There is a footpath going up all the way from Susa and well marked, but it is still a 1700m vertical distance to walk (so 3-5 hours). However you can walk up in the evening, stay the night in rifuge and fly the day after.

Local weather notes

Do not even think about flying in presence of foen wind. Check the weather forecast, if foen is forecasted in next 24 hours it is better not to take the risks.
