Take-off
West oriented. Site has been greatly improved (> see pix).
Beware of the electic line and the cables of the cable car.
Landing
usual LZ in Chamonix: Bois du Bouchet - not visible from TO.
ATTN: this LZ is VERY close to the (year round) no-fly zone LF R-30A! To be on the safe side, make your approaches from the north side of the main road!
Alternative-LZ: Savoy (relatively near gondola), but prohibited in winter..
Access and parking
Highway to Chamonix. There's a parking at the cable car station. Take the cable car to the intermediate station (Plan de l'Aiguille) : http://www.chamonix.com/aiguille-du-midi-step-into-the-void,80,en.html
From the landings, you can reach the lowr cable car station by foot, ~15mn.
Local weather notes
There are often very(!) strong thermal conditions. The wind can rise very quickly in the valley. Welcome to the mountains !
