About this flying site

Site is suitable for the flights on the plains. In case it is covered by clouds and left in shadow, it is unlikely to find any useful thermals there, it may be more convenient to use the Piosasco launchsite. It is possible to fly around the Sacra S.Michele monestary BUT beware of strong valley breeze and downwinds there, so check out the conditions well before attemping it. I you manage to gain some altitude over the takeoff, you can fly ar Beautiful flight over avigliana lakes ;)

Landing

2 landings within a reach of glide: 1) Avigliana landing Coordinates: N45.08833 E7.37278 Elevation: 318m ASL Partially visible from takeoff. Pretty long field adjacent to 3 separate houses and a street at the end of it. Coordinates: N45.06183, E7.349735 Not visible from takeoff. Located next to the road leading up from Giaveno to takeoff site. It is quite technical landing site, hence it is highly recommended to check it out before actually going to the takeoff site.

Access and parking

From Turin: Take motorway or regional highway to Avigliana and follow the signs to Avigliana lakes. Take the road between the lakes ang go towards Giaveno. When entered Giaveno, turn right at first traffic lights. You will pass the Giaveno landing site on the way just before the first steep curve and the mountain. Go up until locality called Chiapero. Stop at the steep curve turning left right after the municipality building. Follow the small path all the way to the takeoff site. Alternatively, you can reach the takeoff site also by off-road vehicle by turning right before.

Local weather notes

* do not fly with foen winds. * thunderstorms may form very quickly on unstable days * beware of strong valley breeze in Valle Susa, expecially in june, jully.

Flight rules

Do not fly towards Torino past Rivoli suburb, the CTR (GND-1500) of Turin Caselle airport starts there. The upper CTR (1500ft AGL - FL085) starts already at takeoff site location. High glider and general/ultralight aviation activity in the area.
