Planning information for Chamois

Alpine flying overview

Chamois is a paragliding launch in the Italian Alps. Its recorded elevation is 2,471 m and its mapped launch aspects are S, SW. Compare the live forecast at launch with winds aloft, gusts, cloud base, rain and daylight before checking current local access and airspace information.

Take-off

Spacious grassy slopes for take-off halfway up and at the summit. Easy launch and often fairly thermic in summer with cycles flowing up the south face.

Landing

There is a landing space below the cable of the Buissons-Chamois cable car but it is for expert pilots only. The official landing zones are at Antey-Saint-Andre, or Maen sports centers and easy access. Watch out for the power lines in the valley.

Access and parking

From Aosta follow Breuil-Cervinia, at Buissons take the cable car to Chamois and the local ski resort lifts to the summit.

Local weather notes

Don't fly with strong west wind or Foehn. Watch the winds in the Valley D'Aosta. There is a risk of over development in the region.
