About this flying site

This site is open to Peak Soaring Association and associated club members - guests are welcome however we ask that you are a BHPA member and first contact the club.

Take-off

An extension of the same ridge that forms Cats Tor, Shining Tor is the highest point in Cheshire at 1817ft (559m) and the highest Paragliding site in the Peak District.

Access and parking

PSA sites were negotiated for use by club members; the detailed sites guide is members-only. Join or contact the Peak Soaring Association before flying.

Hazards and cautions

  • Airspace: Class D, 3000 MSL.
  • Most PSA sites are valley sites — the club warns conditions can get dangerously rough in strong winds or when the wind is off the slope, and most sites can be wave-affected. If in doubt, seek advice from experienced local pilots or a club coach.
