Access and parking

Open to all (sensitive site). Non-members pay a small day fee (online or honesty post). Park diagonally by the fence to keep the road clear. Temporary (10-day / 1-month / annual) memberships available. Current BHPA membership required. Shares the hill with Midland Gliding Club.

Hazards and cautions

  • Sailplane tow operations at neighbouring Midland Gliding Club — extremely dangerous to cross their airfield at low altitude
  • Beware rabbit holes and uneven launch surface
  • Power lines (not all shown on maps)
  • Model aircraft field ~1 mile north — keep 1000ft clearance
  • Shooting at Black Knoll Oct–Jan; livestock/horses throughout — avoid overflying farms
