Take-off

Good, early, in the morning, when the sun light the rocks which are just under the TV transmitter. WARNING : be very carefull before taking your decision => take off is under the north, the west and the south wind. WARNING : when east wind (other than brise) is facing the takeoff, it can be difficult to reach a comfortable landing. Be very carefull.

Landing

In theory, landing is close from the 'Germanette' playground area, 500m nord of the water barrage : 44°24'8' (44.4024)N; 5°43'36' (5.7269)E. But practically, when you cannot get out from the area, the indicated landing is used by many paragliders. Care must be taken with electric wires that is following the road. Get out the field immediately after landing. You can call Gilles who is at 100m from the landing area if you need taxi help : 04 92 67 eleven 27 !

Access and parking

Option 1 : from Méreuil, 10 minutes of car + 40 minutes by feet. Climb on the East side. goto the small village called Méreuil. Arriving at Méreuil, continue to climb in the direction of 'La Montagne'. Just before arriving at La Montagne, leave the main road and take the forest pist named B22. If the pist is closed by the fence, you must continue by feet. 4x4 recommended. Follow B22 during 2.5km until the end of the forest pist: there is a aera where you can make a u-turn and you can park the 4x4. Then by feet climb strait in the oak/beech forest during 30 minutes. At the end of the forest, it's a little bit hard. Even if it's harder, choose the right side of the slope because on the left side, the main trail is too close from the cliff and it really dangerous, especially if you carry your aisle on your back. Continue to climb 250m until you can see the other side of the mountain (west). You are arrived. Option 2 now forbidden by ONF (130€ fine at your own risk): from Montclus, 40 minutes of 4x4 car, 5 minutes by feet. This option is easier that the Méreuil one, but the road is much longer and is now forbidden. Arriving from Serres at Monclus, take on your left and climb, climb, and climb using the forest pist which comes to the TV Transmitter. 800m before arriving to the transmitter, park the car and walk 250m on the GR94 on the opposite way of the transmitter.

Local weather notes

In the summer, avoid to flight after 12h00 in this area : take off can be smooth and ok while it can be very dangerous in the valley (strong brise, and too strong thermals).
