About this flying site

Flying is not permitted during the breeding season from 01.03. - 15.07. each year. Under no circumstances may cars be driven to the launch site! Cars must be parked at the general parking areas. Landing must take place on the designated landing area. The landing site is leased to a shepherd and we are tolerated there. Before flying, it is necessary to find out if there are sheep there. If so, you are not allowed to land there! The nature reserve below the castle (see pictures below) must be flown over at a minimum of 150 metres. This means that 90 m below the take-off site, which is 460 m above sea level, you must fly in the direction of the landing site.

Take-off

The launch site has a ramp with a width of 2.40m. Launching is possible for hang gliders and paragliders. Hang gliders have to walk a little more actively, as the ramp is not quite as steep as other ramps. Paragliders, on the other hand, have a problem with the castle wall. The wind bounces off the castle wall and forms a rotor. The wind turns into the take-off area from the south-east at a wind direction of approx. 70°- 80°. This means that although the wind comes from the north-east, you first lay out the glider against the south-east, then you bring the glider over you and turn it into the north-east wind. You need very good ground handling skills to be able to launch safely there. The take-off run is extremely short. The decision to launch must be made quickly. Please do not launch if conditions do not allow it, for example in low wind/zero wind.
