Plan du fou is a paragliding launch in the Swiss Alps. Its recorded elevation is 2,447 m and its mapped launch aspects are E. Compare the live forecast at launch with winds aloft, gusts, cloud base, rain and daylight before checking current local access and airspace information.
Take-off
Ca. 200 m on the left side of the top station of the new cable car coming from Siviez. Best takeoff direction is facing eastwards.
For good pilots the takeoff on the west side is an other possibility. But it is a very short takeoff track followed by steep cliffs. Better have a stronger wind to take off westwards!
Access and parking
By bus or car (direction Siviez) and cable car for the last part. In summer you can walk up the hill instead of taking the cable car.
Flight rules
Take care of the CTR Sion. More infos on lagopedes.ch. Phone for checking CTR-activity +41 27 324 21 10. Checking the CTR-activity every 30 minutes is nescessery when entering the CTR. If you are just flying from plan du fou to Siviez, you will not enter the CTR. This is only important when you are flying to Haute-Nendaz or Basse-Nendaz.
Forecasts are planning aids, not safety clearance. Check current observations, official airspace and NOTAM information, local rules and your own experience before every flight.
