Take-off
'Heimat': mostly used in the morning;
'Galvera': used in the afternoon;
HG-Ramp in front of cable car station
Landing
LZ 'Fiesch': quite big for PG, not so big anymore for HG; LZ has been reduced in 2008! (see pix!)
Fairly easy (see also wx-hazards). 10min walk to cablecar station.
Only very limited parking space avbl; large P at cablecar station.
Other marked LZ avbl in the 'Goms'-valley.
Access and parking
From Fiescheralp (gondola station) walk for 10min to TO 'Heimat'; 20min for TO 'Galvera'.
HG's normally launch directly in front of cable car station (ramp).
>> ATTN: as of 2020 hanggliders are transported with a special transport gondola. There may be waiting times until a transport gondola is available at the bottom station for loading the hanggliders. It might be necessary to arrive well in advance to secure a space on such a gondola for your hangglider!!!
Local weather notes
AVOID: 'Bise' (NE-wind), 'Foehn' (S-Wind).
Wind in the valley can become quite strong in the afternoon.
When flying East: 'Grimselschlange' (N-wind flowing over Grimsel-pass) can cause problems.
