About this flying site

I like this place for several reasons: - VERY friendly people at the chairlift and in the village; - VERY reasonable prices for chairlift; - thermals start early; - very large LZ; - easy for XC: climb to about 2800m, cross the valley and fly West to 'Helm', from there to '3 Zinnen/ 3 Cime' and ...; - not too crowded

Take-off

From chairlift wlk about 10mins downhill to TO. Thermals start quite early. Nicely sloped meadow; space for 4 or 5 PG's.

Landing

Large meadow S of village; windsock(s). AVOID landing in high, uncut grass! Be aware, that the wind can become quite strong in the afternoon (starting already at noon), still almost never faster than your gliding speed.

Access and parking

Chairlift from 'Obertilliach'. timetable: https://obertilliacher-bergbahnen.com/gb/webcam/ >> VERY reasonably priced daily/ weekly passes!

Local weather notes

Avoid northerly winds! Starting around noon, the wind in the valley ('Gailtal') can become quite strong! Wx Fcst: https://www.meteoblue.com/de/wetter/woche/golzentipp_%c3%96sterreich_2778349 webcams: https://obertilliacher-bergbahnen.com/gb/webcam/
